Damage Characteristic of Thermal Shock on the Physical and Dynamic Compressive Properties of Granite

Thermal shock is common in fire disaster and blasting of rock engineering; moreover, the mass bears dynamic mechanical disturbance frequently. In order to study damage characteristics thermal on physical compressive properties, granite treated different temperatures at heating rates was obtained by measure ultrasonic wave velocity, internal structures were scanning electron microscopy experiments. By using split Hopkinson pressure bar, experiments 400°C 600°C 1, 2, 4, 6, 10, 20, 30, 40°C/min carried out. Thereby, properties obtained. The results show that there a rate threshold value between 6 10°C/min, which divides damage. Before value, does not appear. strength, elastic modulus, density decrease; however, peak strain increases as increases. researches effect with below or equal 6°C/min could avoid shock. research provide theoretical foundation for engineering suffered shock, such geothermal reservoir.
